Candle or incense: which does your room need?
Both do the same job — they decide what a room smells like — but they do it at different speeds and with different ceremony, and the right choice depends less on the room than on the hour you intend to spend in it.
Choose the candle when the evening is long. A 240g pour burns for around fifty hours, so it is the format for rooms you live in slowly — the sitting room after dinner, the bath that runs long, the desk at the quiet end of the day. The flame does half the work: it slows the room down before the fragrance has said anything. Our candles are hand-poured in a natural, vegan cocosoy wax, and the scent builds gradually, the way the evening does.
Choose the incense when the shift needs to be quicker. Incense is more ceremonial — struck, lit, blown out, done — and it changes the air of a room in minutes rather than hours. It suits transitions: the start of a morning, the reset between work and evening, the ten minutes before guests arrive. Where a candle accompanies an hour, incense marks one.
Many rooms want both — the candle for the long evenings, the incense for the thresholds. The fragrances are composed to be the same scent in either format, so the room never contradicts itself.
And if you genuinely cannot decide: begin with the candle. Fifty hours is a long time to find out whether a fragrance is yours.
